How to know the difference between BUSY and PRODUCTIVE.
Is simple, but like all simple simples…took ages for me to learn this on my own.
Real Estate sales can you have you a little duck in a big pond, moving every limb you have just to stay a float sometimes.
Anyone in the business can tell you that now, 2021, they are incredibily BUSY. Most markets have seen a demand like no other time before and even the odd part timer has closed a deal or two.
When I hear the phrase of choice: “can’t get to that, I am busy”, I love to ask a personal favorite question of mine, as if I was conducting an experiment on a secret lab, clipboard in hand:
“How?”…”How are you BUSY?”
The answers I get often range from silence, to: “well, you know”(not really, but ok)….to “well, let me vent”…and the venting will go for ages if you let it.
Others do say: “Girl, I closed 20 deals this month, haven’t had time to even have the kind of lunch where you are not staring at an email, chewing away angrily instead of responding to nonsense.”
And the: “Well, let me tell you, I have 8 sellers under contract, and no assistant, so I am wearing all the hats while I find someone…know anyone interested?”
When you take all the responses into account, the pattern becomes clear. Some are BUSY doing a lot, while others are being PRODUCTIVE at what they are doing, no complaints, just the perpetual: “it is what it is”.
